Gayle McCormick 73, of Washington State divorced her husband of 22 years over his vote for Donald Trump.
McCormick who is a registered democrat said the vote was the deal breaker. She went on to say it opened up areas between the two that they have not faced before. “I realized how far I had gone in my life to accept things I would have never accepted when I was younger” McCormick said.
McCormick felt betrayed last year as the couple was out to lunch with friends when her then husband said he planned on voting for Trump.
According to a recent poll by Reuters/Ipsos, 16% of people out of the 6,426 polled had stopped talking to family members and friends as a result of the 2016 election. In another poll with the same individuals thirty percent said that they ended a relationship entirely.
The Trump effect has really taken it’s toll on individuals across this country. To think we still have close to four years to go of this administration.
