From the world renowned Beach Party to a shopping night along famed Lincoln Road Mall, the 2012 Winter Party Festival, February 29 to March 5, 2012, features some of the most amazing events on the planet.  Acting as home base for all the energy and excitement will be the new Surfcomber Miami, South Beach, now a Kimpton Hotel property, which is once again the official host hotel for the event, announced Russell Roybal, deputy executive director of the National Gay and Lesbian Task Force, producers of the Winter Party Festival.

“We’re thrilled that the Surfcomber is on board once again as our host hotel,” Roybal said.  “Kimpton Hotels has an amazing track record of support for the LGBT community and its partnership with Winter Party this year is bigger and better than ever before.”

To celebrate the partnership with Kimpton this year, the Surfcomber will host Winter Party Festival’s welcome event, “Spark,” on Wednesday, February 29.  For “Spark,” the hotel will provide hors d’oeuvres from its new restaurant and donate a two-night stay as a raffle prize for attendees.  In addition, the Surfcomber will once again be the location for the Welcome Center as well as the “Hell & Heaven at the Pool” event on Friday, March 2, and the “Under One Sun Pool Party” on Saturday, March 3.

“We are eager to provide a higher ‘white-glove’ service to our Winter Party guests this year,” said Mario Casal, director of sales and marketing at the Surfcomber.  “Kimpton’s highly regarded stance on LGBT community inclusiveness is unmatched in the hotel industry, and we look forward to rolling out the red carpet for our Winter Party guests.”

The accolades Kimpton has received from the LGBT community include a 100% Corporate Equality Index rating and “Best Place to Work” designation from the Human Rights Campaign and the 2011 International Business Leadership Award from Equality Forum.  In addition, the hotel’s annual Red Ribbon Campaign raised $150,000 last year for local HIV/AIDS charities.

Since taking over the Surfcomber last April, Kimpton has initiated a top-to-bottom renovation of the 1948 Art Deco gem.  Surfcomber’s new design-driven spaces will marry the eclectic style of European Bohemia with a down home American front porch appeal. The design will create an inviting and comfortable atmosphere, with elements of surprise throughout. Combined with Kimpton’s warm and welcoming service, the newly and fully renovated hotel will offer guests a retro, breezy atmosphere and a distinctive South Beach experience that is as cool as it is friendly, and as sexy as it is fun.

“The new Surfcomber brings to South Beach all the things South Beach visitors desire most – a sultry and stylish hotel that is dynamic and fun, yet inviting and authentic. Together with the enticing surf that inspired our name, it all makes for the ultimate playground under the sun,” said Sean McKeen, general manager at the Surfcomber.

The hotel’s heated pool and expansive outdoor deck surrounded by spacious cabanas remain a signature element of the Surfcomber, providing a sublime setting for sipping cocktails while sun-worshiping poolside. Inside, the Surfcomber will give guests a place to relax and re-charge in its inviting guest rooms with luxurious Frette bed linens and featured bath products by European fashion designer, Etro.  Guests will also enjoy the diverse mix of dining options, including a new Southeast Asian street fare inspired restaurant concept.

The 186-room Surfcomber Hotel sits along 200 feet of Atlantic oceanfront in the heart of the South Beach entertainment district.  Until January 7, special Winter Party rates start at $289 and can be reserved at or by calling 800-546-7866.

Produced by the National Gay and Lesbian Task Force, Winter Party Festival raises funds to build power, take action and create change for the LGBT community.  The majority of the net proceeds generated from Winter Party Festival go to work in South Florida through grants administered by The Miami Foundation, while the remainder supports the Task Force’s efforts nationally.  Since assuming responsibility for the events in 2004, The Task Force has provided nearly $1.2 million from the proceeds of Winter Party Festival and the annual Recognition Dinner to LGBT organizations in South Florida.
