This episode of travel blog is dedicated to visiting Washington’s visitors favorite place – FDR Memorial. One of the best things about FDR memorial is that it’s so huge that you can find tons of places to sit around and contemplate. So be sure to find a spot where you can sit and think quietly.
FDR Memorial is a park dedicated to the memory of one of the greatest US presidents – Franklin Delano Roosevelt. The architect who created this memorial, Lawrence Halprin, found this task challenging, for this reason he was so proud of accomplishing it. It represented the peak of his career and the era he was so fond of.
The monument was finished in 1997 and it spreads over 7.5 acres in total. It has 4 outdoor rooms each representing a year in Roosevelt’s term. You can see lots of sculptures in the park.
But most importantly this place makes a great spot for DC residents to spend a quiet Saturday afternoon. Lots of people go there to do some self searching or just to have lunch with their special one and enjoy nice weather.
