Turkish ice cream is just amazing. This ice cream is cut from a hanging ice cream brick and is made in Hamdizade Dondurma Istanbul, Turkey. The original recipe they have is over 150 years old.

They use something called Salep which is flour made from the roots of orchids. This product they use makes the ice cream more elastic and easy to use. The ice cream is served in slices and one of the popular flavors they make is Pistachio. This is actually a favorite of mine too. What they do is take pistachio ice cream and wrap it in a frozen pistachio paste. Wow sounds amazing. This is something you really need to check out if you ever get over to Istanbul, Turkey.

The shop has been open since 1925 and they make all of their ice cream without preservatives. This is a must, if you love ice cream.
