Susanna Reid: Journalist, broadcaster & reality TV star
Susanna ReidThere are some people born with an unfair quantity of talent; those who don’t just excel at their chosen career or a single hobby, but who have dazzled in every arena in which they have appeared – and Susanna Reid is one of them.
An inspiring woman and journalist, in recent years she has proved to be a multi-talented individual with a stint on Strictly Come Dancing, a successful attempt at the London Marathon and more charity work than you can shake a stick at.
An impressive education and early interest in journalism set Reid up well for her eventual career as a newsreader and broadcaster, and the breadth of her career is fascinating; in the time that she has been active as a journalist much has changed in the world of media and she is well placed to discuss those developments.
As a newsreader Reid is a well recognised face, and will surely appeal as an after dinner speaker to almost anyone with an interest in current affairs, but as a strong female role-model she makes an exceptional role model to young women and is available to book as a public speaker.

On-screen journalism
Reid’s first passion and most of her career was in journalism as a presenter and newsreader, and it’s still that for which she is best known. Educated at a series of exclusive private schools including Croydon High School and St Paul’s School girls’ school, in 1989 Susanna Reid took up a place at the University of Bristol to study Politics, Philosophy and Law. Not wasting a moment, she rose to become the editor in chief of the well-regarded student paper, Epigram, and after graduating undertook a postgraduate diploma in journalism in the city of Cardiff.
It was in Bristol that she first kicked off her career in broadcast media working for BBC Radio Bristol, and she went on to work for the BBC for much of her working life. After joining BBC News 24 as a reporter, she was thrust into the spotlight when a presenter failed to turn up for work and her unplanned TV debut was such a success that the position became permanent.
After more than a decade as a presenter and newsreader, Susanna moved over to the breakfast slot, replacing Sian Williams on BBC Breakfast. The move suited her, and the warm and engaging presenter soon became even more of a national treasure, a firm favourite on the early morning slot. In 2014, Reid was, however, poached from the BBC to present Good Morning Britain on rival station ITV, where she remains to this day.
…and the rest
Journalism and presenting are far from her only skills however – in 2014, Susanna was announced as a contestant on BBC’s Strictly Come Dancing, and shook her hips so successfully that she bagged a runner-up position. She’s also completed marathons in aid of Sport Relief, contributes a significant amount of time to the Media Trust and even volunteered for three months as a media consultant in Sri Lanka.
It’s this well-roundedness that makes her such an excellent role model – she proves that it’s possible to have both a high-powered career in the media and a lot of fun, as well as a big heart.
All in all she’s a seriously impressive woman with a seriously impressive resume, who’s sure to offer a real wow-factor to guests at any event.
If it’s a smart, strong and successful woman that you’re after for a public speaking engagement at your next event, Susanna Reid is an excellent choice. With a recognisability factor that will add some glamour to any occasion, she can speak on a whole range of subjects – from the changing face of the media to juggling a high-powered career with a family.
