There is a new strip club opening up in Las Vegas called The Legends Room. The Legends Room is partnered up with the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino, so you know that they mean business. You say, big deal. Another strip club in Vegas I can’t afford. Well, this club is different, very different. The legends room will be the first to accept cryptocurrency from an ATM. It has also decided to issue its own cryptocurrency which will be redeemable for drinks and dances at the club, and distributed through a custom mobile app.
The Legends cryptocurrency will be issued via the Ethereum blockchain. It will be known as The Legends Cryptocurrency (LGD). This is a decentralized, blockchain-based computing platform that allows for the creation of custom tokens.
As well as paying for club services, the crypto token is the only way to obtain VIP membership. Along with membership ‘perks and bennies’ (which gets you access to a private area featuring appearances by athletes, celebrities and adult entertainment stars), the owners of Legends Room also point out the anonymity properties of cryptocurrency over other digital payment methods. They are using that as a selling point.
Users can buy as many tokens as they want, however, buying 5000 tokens will grant the buyers a lifetime membership within the club. Members receive a 50% discount on all club services except gaming, an offer that is valid for life and that includes the member and a guest.
Besides hiding customer spending habits, the use of cryptocurrency will also provide for some interesting ways for dancers and customers to interact. Bitcoin wallet apps often use QR codes to share transaction details between sender and receiver. This is something the club plans to make use of.
“Vegas is all about what’s new, what’s different,” says Peter Klamka, Legends Room cryptocurrency specialist. “So let’s put a QR code on a porn star’s thigh and you can scan your app or even your blockchain wallet right on her thigh… Then all of a sudden you’ve got a real draw.”
The club is hoping that the new technology brings in many of the Silicon Valley techies and trendies who come into town for conventions and to party with all their ‘tech cash’. They are counting on this futuristic payment twist being a draw.
On a side note, The Legends Room is not the first Las Vegas establishment to accept cryptocurrency. The Bunnies of Las Vegas escort service actually beat them to it. Who knew the sex business was so on the cutting edge of cryptocurrency and blockchain?
