It was one of the most highly anticipated debuts in Major League Baseball history and rookie phenom Stephen Strasburg did not disappoint. It’s one thing to live up to all of the hype, it’s another thing to go beyond it. That is exactly what the number one overall pick just did tonight in his first start for the Washington Nationals. The 6-4 fireballer calmly took the field and proceeded to make the Pittsburgh Pirates look like a bunch of little leaguers. Strasburg tossed 94 pitches in seven innings of work giving up a paltry four hits with no walks and an incredible 14 strikeouts for his first win as a pro. All eyes were on what many were calling the best pitching prospect possibly ever and he took the mound and delivered. Although it is only his first start, it’s apparent that Strasburg has the stuff to dominate the game. The LeBron of baseball has arrived and we’ll keep you posted all year round.
Fourteen flippin’ K’s!! That’s an insane amount for anyone who’s been pitching in the pros for years let alone a rookie in his first start. Even though I love watching over-hyped players crash and burn, this is one time that i”m left in awe. Kudos to you Steven Strasburg, kudos indeed!
