The Daily News in New York caught up with an angry pedestrian who is one of the many people who has been harassed in Times Square by the sleazy version of everyone’s favorite Muppet. The pedestrian by the name of Amanda Kelly was pushing her baby stroller in NY’s biggest tourist trap when she was approached by Elmo “that furry red thing was too aggressive. I think it swore at me.” She told the Daily News. Elmo had been chased out of Times Square once before after the publication had reported him, but now he’s back and up to his old tricks. Kelly went on to tell the Daily News:
“I’m just disgusted. The thing is, I don’t mind giving a dollar, but that furry red thing was too aggressive. I think it swore at me. I wasn’t going to let my daughter anywhere near it. I also think it kind of smelled.”
When asked about the incident, Elmo wouldn’t give up his real name, and he had this to say, “I’m not being rude. Taking an Elmo picture without paying is rude. It’s called making a living.” Soon after making that statement, cops asked Elmo to leave the area. The Daily News also spoke to the Times Square Batman who apparently doesn’t like Elmo at all, “That Elmo isn’t age-appropriate. He swears and curses. Times Square was better when he was gone.” You heard it here first people; there is a war in the streets, and there’s only room on this corner for one fictional character buddy!
