Saltwater Brewery, located in Delray Beach, Florida, has designed what it calls ‘edible six pack rings’.
They came up with the idea in hopes of helping protect sea creatures but also to feed them.
In a Facebook post, the brewery wrote: “We believe most plastic beer six‐pack rings end up in our oceans and pose a serious threat to wildlife. Together with We Believers, we created, designed, tested and proto-typed the first ever Edible Six Pack Rings.”
The rings are biodegradable and compostable. They are made with byproducts of the process of beer making.
Saltwater Brewery hopes that one day all beer company’s or company’s that use the plastic rings will switch over to the more eco friendly rings.
