Get your dive on and go get some fresh Florida lobster while the gettin' is good

South Florida, rock some lobster as the two-day mini-season begins tonight at midnight and continues until 11:59 p.m. on Thursday!

Officials urge divers to take their dive flags and first aid kits to make it a safe and delicious mini-season and remember to follow these rules:

  • Divers must only harvest adult lobsters.
  • The space between the head and the tail must be longer than 3 inches.
  • Divers must have their own measuring devices.
  • Divers must have a fishing license and a lobster stamp.
  • In Miami-Dade County, the limit is 12 lobsters per person per day.
  • In Monroe County and Biscayne National Park, the limit is six lobsters per person per day.

You can still obtain a license by calling  888.347.4356. Authorities are on patrol and making arrests for any and all violations. They will be patrolling by land and by sea, so no funny stuff!

**NOTE: The staff of the South Florida Chronicle is accepting all lobster donations from our H20 friends, and we have plenty of special butter!
