Bret Michaels, the voice behind “Every Rose Has Its Thorn” and “Talk Dirty to Me” who is currently a cast member of NBC’s “Celebrity Apprentice”, was rushed to the hospital with what has been reported as a brain hemorrhage.
Joann Mignano, Michaels’ publicist, confirmed a report that VH1’s “Rock of Love” star was rushed to intensive care late Thursday after a severe headache. The report said doctors discovered bleeding at the base of his brain stem. Doctors discovered he had suffered a massive brain hemorrhage. After several CAT scans, MRIs and an angiogram, the doctors decided to keep Michaels in the ICU and will run several tests to determine the cause of the hemorrhage. Things will be touch and go for the next few days while he is under intense observation.
There have been many conflicting reports as to how serious Bret’s condition is. MTV.com noted that “Rock of Love” Season Two winner, Ambre Lake, had spoken with those close to Bret, and that he is “stabilized and conscious”.
The 47-year-old TV star had an emergency appendectomy at a private care facility for diabetics last week after complaining of stomach pains before he was scheduled to perform at Sea World in San Antonio, Texas. Michaels later wrote on his website that though the surgery “has taken its toll,” doctors expected him to make a full recovery.
Treez says: While I was never a big Poison fan, I am a reality TV “junkie” and loved “Rock of Love”. I also try to catch “Celebrity Apprentice” because Michaels is one of the contestants. Now I’m no dummy. I know that these shows are edited and spliced to make things look and seem different than they really are. But besides being a horny rockstar celeb, Michaels came off to me as a caring father, a good listener and a guy with a good heart. He has stayed relevant long after his musical heyday, gaining a whole new fan base. In these days and times of 15 minute celebrities and faux stars (Heidi Montag & Spencer Pratt), that makes Michaels an icon in my book. I hope you pull through buddy!!
