From the moment we pulled up to The Palm, we were greeted to complimentary valet parking and upon opening the front doors, we were greeted by their very professional, very polite, and knowledgable general manager Mr. Bryan Lytle.

We could see from the get-go that they do in fact live by their famous and yet simple philosophy: Treat guests like family, serve great food, and always exceed expectations. Believe me when I tell you…they surely do! My staff and I have done restaurant reviews all over the world and we were amazed in this place!

That philosophy was born in 1926, when Pio Bozzi and John Ganzi opened the first Palm in New York City. From day one, Pio and John shared their commitment to quality and generosity of spirit with every guest who walked through their doors. What began as a restaurant became a legend – a place to not only enjoy an excellent meal but also catch up with old friends, meet new ones, close business deals, and celebrate family milestones.

Still owned and operated by members of the Bozzi and Ganzi families, The Palm continues to serve as a second home for countless patrons, thanks to the exceptional standard of hospitality established by our founders.

When Pio Bozzi and John Ganzi opened The Palm Restaurant in 1926, they had no money to decorate. Luckily, their location on Manhattan’s Second Avenue was in close proximity to the headquarters of King Features Syndicate and attracted a large clientele of cartoonists. In exchange for their meals, artists would often draw their own creations on the walls of The Palm. Since then, the flagship Palm has become a living museum of cartoons and caricatures featuring such famous faces as Popeye, Batman, Beetle Bailey, Hagar the Horrible, and characters from “The Family Circus.” To preserve these legendary hand-drawn sketches – many of which were drawn in charcoal and pastels – the Palm’s walls were professionally restored in 1995. Today they have only 4 artists that travel to all of their luxurious locations to do their excellent work.

Over the years, the tradition of decorating our locations with caricatures has continued as we’ve expanded across the country and internationally. Before a new restaurant opens, 200 to 300 local notables’ likenesses are placed on the walls, and new caricatures of regulars and celebrities are added regularly. Not surprisingly, the most in-demand wall space is at the original Second Avenue location, where only five caricatures are added each year due to space constraints.

Upon seating, Bryan the GM cancelled our wine order to bring us a special treat. A bottle of 2008 Red Wine Triple C that went perfectly with their signature Filet Mignon. He also brought out an incredible chardonnay that paired perfectly with the live lobster they just cooked and deshelled for us.

We started the delicable experience with unforgettable ahi tuna and beef carpaccio. You can ask to add truffle oil to anything so don’t be shy. The Chilean Seabass was to die for and the sauteed mushrooms with truffle oil went quickly. They also brought out creamy and tasty goat cheese mashed potatoes, brussel sprouts and a key lime pie dessert with blueberry sauce that competes with the worlds best.

All this delicious food was served by famous actor Daniel O’Callahan, who kept the good and clean jokes coming all night long, sang beautiful opera music to us and told us what Hollywood is really like as an actor. Hint: it sounds pretty cool. He is amazing and we would recommend him very much for your dining enjoyment.

It’s no wonder that recent reports from the December 2000 grand opening of The Palm in Nashville said it was one of the best parties Nashville has seen in more than eight years. The grand opening of the restaurant, located adjacent to the Hilton Suites in downtown Nashville and across the street from the Gaylord Entertainment Center, drew celebrities Denise and Alan Jackson, Titans players, NBA players, Senators, the Governor of Tennessee, the Mayor of Nashville, and many others. Since opening, guests like Robert Redford, James Gandolfini (Tony Soprano), Tim McGraw and Faith Hill have paid the Nashville Palm a visit.
