This is from Katie Couric’s interview with NYC Mayor Michael Bloomberg about the attempt to commit a terrorist act in Times Square. The piece aired on Monday, May 3. Thank you to Newsbusters.org.

KATIE COURIC: Law enforcement officials don’t know who left the Nissan Pathfinder behind, but at this point, the mayor believes the suspect acted alone.

MAYOR MICHAEL BLOOMBERG: If I had to guess — 25 cents — this would be exactly that, somebody-

COURIC TO BLOOMBERG: A home-grown?

BLOOMBERG: Home-grown, maybe a mentally deranged person or somebody with a political agenda that doesn’t like the health care bill or something. It could be anything.

How quickly Bloomberg, with Couric leading him on, is ready to speculate that this attempt at terror might be somebody who doesn’t like health care. Perhaps a Tea Partier or two. After all, the real enemy in America is not the Islamic terrorist like Major Nidal Hasan who killed 13 people or Colleen LaRose who called herself Jihad Jane. Jihad Jane, an Islamic convert, has been indicted for attempting to help have a Swedish artist killed because his work offended Muslims. However, in Bloomberg’s sick and twisted mind the real danger comes from American citizens who do not like Obama’s health care bill. Maybe it was someone who objected to the mayor’s wanting to ban trans fat in food.

Bloomberg is not the only one. The reaction of some to the Fort Hood shooting, in which Army psychiatrist Major Nidal Hasan killed 13 Americans, is telling. Writers of the New York Times wrote movingly about the stress and pressure of being an Army psychiatrist like Hasan was. Perhaps he was just a disgruntled employee?

Unfortunately for Mayor Bloomberg, Katie Couric, and President Obama, it turns out that the man who has been arrested for this act is Faisal Shahzad, and it has been reported that he recently visited Pakistan. Shazad was already aboard an airplane headed to Dubai, and it is believed that he was attempting to get to Islamabad, Pakistan before the plane was summoned back to the gate and he was taken into custody.

It is curious that it has not been widely reported that the truck loaded with incendiary material was parked across the street from the Viacom building. If you are confused about the possible significance of this, remember that Comedy Central broadcasts South Park. The cartoon’s creators were recently threatened with death on an Islamic oriented website based in the U.S. for what was perceived as an insult to Muhammad.

Bloomberg and his ilk would rather believe that it is the anti-government white male who is the real threat to America. How disappointed he, Couric, and the President must be that the perpetrator was not a disciple of Sarah Palin or Glenn Beck. Political correctness is a suicide pact.
