The sad reality is heroin related deaths is on the rise in the US. Most heroin users started off by using some form of a pain medication. In Fulton and Montgomery counties we are seeing more overdose related to heroine laced with fentanyl. Fentanyl  is a potent synthetic opiod which can be 100 times more potent than morphine. When combined with heroin it is almost always fatal. According to studies from 2015 drug overdose was the leading cause to accidental death. In the US alone 55,403 cases of overdose were reported. That number is expected to rise for 2016.
