Believe it or not, last year was the first time betting on the Heisman Trophy was allowed in Las Vegas. There was no such ban at offshore sports books, of course, but Station Casinos last fall became the first bet shop in Nevada to post odds on the award after the state’s gaming regulators granted it approval.

Now, other Vegas sports books are following suit, and wagering on the 2016 award is well underway. You’ll find opening and updated odds from the Westgate Las Vegas SuperBook below.

Three candidates listed with single-digit odds have separation from the pack – Clemson QB Deshaun Watson, Stanford running back Christian McCaffrey and LSU running back Leonard Fournette. All three of these guys figured into last season’s race, as McCaffrey and Watson finished second and third, respectively, behind winner Derrick Henry, and Fournette spent much of the season as the favorite during his blistering start.

Oklahoma quarterback Baker Mayfield is fourth on this season’s betting board at 10-to-1 odds. He’s followed by a pair of 12-to-1 candidates – Florida State running back Dalvin Cook and Baylor QB Seth Russell.

If you’re looking for bigger price, how about Ohio Stare QB J.T. Barrett or Georgia running back Nick Chubb? Barrett comes into the season as Urban Meyer’s clear top choice under center, unlike last season when he faced competition from Braxton Miller and Cardale Jones. Chubb was right in the mix last season – second on the odds board behind Fournette, in fact – until a knee injury ended his season.
