Last Saturday, Conor McGregor wanted to show the world again why he is the favorite among UFC fighters. He faced off against Donald “Cowboy” Cerrone in what was thought to be a great match. To the world’s surprise McGregor attacked with a ferocity so intense, Cowboy didn’t stand a minute of a chance. Quite literally. This bout was a 40-second demolition of one UFC fighter upon another.
Not McGregor’s First Rodeo
Thoughts and media coverage made this fight out to be the beginning of one of the craziest years in UFC. However, the media coverage never expected what truly happened. In McGregor’s first UFC match in over a year, he mopped the floor with Cerrone. So many people doubted the ex-star, but he finished the fight in 40 seconds. With a TKO in the first round, McGregor planted his foot to Cerrone’s face and the referee had to call the match. The bout was held in Las Vegas, Nevada and this changed McGregor’s record to 22 – 4. After this battle, its hard to predict the next target of the Irishman’s rampage.
McGregor Past, Present and Future
This fight was the first time McGregor stepped into the stage since 2018. After the loss to Khabib Nurmagomedov, McGregor took time off to repair his body and perfect his skills. The match against Donald “Cowboy” Cerrone was his reentry into the UFC world as a man you can’t help but watch. For the future of his career, it is hard to say who he will challenge next. There could be a Khabib rematch. I can only imagine the vendetta that Conor McGregor must have towards Khabib Nurmagomedov. On the other hand, Floyd Mayweather posted a mock fight poster to entice McGregor. Another boxing venture for the UFC star? Who knows what the unpredictable Irishman is going to do next?
