Police busted a burglary ring in Nashua, NH responsible for more than 50 home break-ins. How did they have such a successful streak of robberies you ask? Facebook! The criminals would monitor peoples’ Facebook in the area to see when they were “at the bar, on vacation, or at work,” then they would rob their house. Using the Facebook method they could almost guarantee no one was home when they broke in, greatly increasing their success rate. Facebook took almost all the risk out of the crime for the burglars and is directly responsible for their 50 home robbery streak. When police finally apprehended the suspects they confiscated over $100,000 in stolen property and that was just what they hadn’t sold already. Maybe it’s time we all took a closer look at those Facebook privacy settings.
