And now, Mrs Langsett is ready to move on to a new level – to pharmaceutical sales.
Ayanah Langsett has a profound knowledge in the field of chemistry. She comes from a generation of chemistry teachers that studied their specific field in depth prior to going off to teach someone. So she stays on top of things as far as the innovations and breakthroughs in the field.
Ayanah told us about new exciting breakthrough in pharmaceutical chemistry – anti-platelet drug called PZ-128, which was successfully tested in human studies.
For years, cloridogel was used for treating patients with coronary artery disease. However, this strategy had some drawbacks. It had a slow onset and was irreversible. New drug PZ-128 is targeting protease-activated receptor-1, which is called the anti-platelet therapy. Anti-platelet therapy is an important strategy for treating patients who have a high risk of coronary trombosis.
Ayanah Langsett told us about this first-in-man study of a new anti-paletel drug PZ-128. The drug was administered to patients with coronary artery disease intravenously for 1-2 hours. The result was a rapid inhibition of platelet aggregation. However, the result was reversible, with platelet function recovering within 24 hours back to normal.
Ayanah excitedly told us that the drug will be now tested in phase II study of patients with acute coronary symptoms.
We are confident that Ayanah Langsett will make an incredible pharmacist after devoting many years to teaching chemistry to students. Her love of chemistry and her desire to serve people and work with them directly is an perfect combination for success in this profession.
Ayanah also has interesting hobbies that keep her active and healthy. She loves scuba diving and aviation. Overall, Ayanah Langsett is a well-rounded person and it is always a pleasure talking to her.
