Kanye West just does not disappoint. He did a pre-taped interview for the Today Show in which he dealt with questions about his George Bush hates black people comments as well as his incident at the MTV Awards with Taylor Swift.
There was a serious and somber tone to the entire interview. It was clearly uncomfortable. It was awkward to witness, as well as it had to be for the two men involved. The interview started with Lauer asking West how he felt about the former president’s feelings about his “George Bush doesn’t care about black people” comment. Kanye said he empathized with Bush regarding being called a racist, and then Lauer played an interview clip of the former president and asked West to “Just look at him” to see the anguish in his face. At this point West snapped back saying, “I didn’t need you guys to show me the tape in order to prompt my emotion to what I’m going to say.”
This was the first uncomfortable moment. Other awkward moments included Kanye asking some people offstage to keep quiet as well as displaying frustration at the clip of him interrupting Taylor Swift’s speech during the VMAs playing while he answered a question. He did not like the clip being run while he answered Lauer’s question, and let them know about it.
It was so bad, that Kanye cancelled a Today Show concert he was supposed to perform on November 26th.
Kanye took to Twitter (@kanyewest) to let everyone know his side of the crazy interview.
