Lots of people dislike flying to begin with, however we all have distain for the middle seat. Nothing says fun like being squashed in-between two people for the duration of your flight. Airline companies have taken note of this and are using it to increase their bottom lines.

Airlines have begun to charge higher fees for window or aisle seats on flights, adding just one more fee to an ever increasing list of expenses passengers must endure.

Taking it one step further, airlines have begun to charge more for what they deem to be “preferred seats.” These include all window and aisle seats along with middle seats toward the front of the airplane. The most expensive seats on an airplane are in the front, with the least expensive in the back.

With fuel prices on the decline, there would seem to be no better time to skip the plane and opt for a road trip in the family automobile.
