Brittany Murphy, singer and television and film actress, was found collapsed in her shower Sunday, December 20th. Murphy’s mother discovered her at around 8 a.m. Paramedics called to the scene found Murphy, 32, in full cardiac arrest and performed CPR. She was rushed to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles. Upon arrival, Murphy was pronounced dead. She had appeared in films including “8 Mile”, “Clueless,” and “Don’t Say a Word”, and on television, including recurring roles on “Boy Meets World” and FOX television’s animated “King of the Hill.” In 2005, Maxim named her #49 on the magazine’s annual Hot 100 List. There have been rumors that Murphy suffered from anorexia and was a recreational drug user; authorities are investigating whether these factors contributed to her death. Murphy is survived by her husband, British screenwriter Simon Montjack.
