Charlie Sheen is wishing he’d been home for the holidays, having spent part of Christmas day in jail following his arrest for domestic violence-related charges on December 25th by Aspen, Colorado police. Sources said the star of CBS’s “Two and a Half Men” was arrested after shoving his wife during an argument and threatening her with a knife. Sheen, 44, was charged with second-degree assault and menacing, felonies, and criminal mischief, a misdemeanor. Pitkin County, Colorado Chief Deputy D.A. Arnold Mordkin told reporters the menacing charge carries a punishment of eight years in prison and a fine of up to $500,000. Police responded to a 911 call of domestic violence on Christmas morning, at a historic house that Sheen’s wife, Brooke Mueller, has been renting for three months while Sheen was in Los Angeles. Sources say Sheen flew to Colorado to spend Christmas with Mueller. Sheen, who is free on $8,500 bond, will have his next court appearance on February 8th, and a decision on whether to prosecute the actor will be made around that time. Sheen’s publicist issued a statement to People magazine which said, “Do not be misled by appearance. Appearance and reality can be as different as night and day. It would benefit everyone not to jump to any conclusion.” Sheen and Mueller were married in May 2008 after the actor’s bitter divorce from actress Denise Richards; Mueller gave birth to twin boys earlier this year. – Boomer
