There is some good news coming out when it comes to teens and smoking.
The New York State Department Of Health is saying that the states effort to combat teen smoking is working.
A new survey shows the teen smoking rate last year was 4.3 percent. That’s down from 27.1 percent in 2000.
Though we are seeing a reduction in teen smoking, there is a rise in the use of e-cigarette use among high school students. It has nearly doubled in the past two years, up from 10.5 percent in 2014 to 20.6 percent last year.
The state says this shows the need to close dangerous loopholes that leave e-cigarettes unregulated.
