This delicious and charming upscale eatery is located in the bustling and growing heart of the SoBro district in downtown Nashville. Specifically located on the ground floor of the Pinnacle at Symphony Place, The Southern Steak & Oyster is a unique and delicious eatery that has over a century’s worth of combined catering and restaurant experience with an individual, authentic taste where culinary meets comfort. It’s south of somewhere but somehow still pleasantly located in the south. Where people are nice and the food is as important as the atmosphere and music.

 

The Southern features a state-of-the-art, shuck-to-order oyster bar, a real wood-fired grill, locally-grown produce, deliciously tender meats and directly-sourced, sustainable seafood. The Southern combines indigenous flavors with exotic international ingredients to offer an authentically southern experience with a twist. The Southern’s cuisine brings a southern sensibility to time-honored dishes from around the world. With influences from the Gulf Coast to the Caribbean; from Nova Scotia to North Carolina. It truly is a culinary experience that everyone must try!

This go around, we enjoyed their hot Nashville style fried chicken salad with greens and dill pickles served with ranch and bleu cheese, a must try, which was an explosion of various flavors. We also had their delicious deviled eggs, authentic shrimp and sausage gumbo and their BBQ Shrimp. And last, but not least, we had the Southern Burger topped with Jalapeño Bacon, Tomato, Lettuce, Pimento Cheese & crispy friend onions all served with sweet potato fries. All of these items were amazing I might add.

Other amazing items from their famous menu are their prime ribeye, an exceptional steak option, grilled to perfection using only salt and pepper as seasoning and they walk you up to the knowledgable chef’s butcher block to let you choose your favorite cut. The fish and sweet potato grits were my favorite things. It was so flaky, flavorful and delicious. Accompanied by cheesy cheddar mac, garlic mashed potatoes and asparagus, one could simply not go wrong. Their wide variety of upscale cocktails go perfectly with their fresh-from-the-sea oysters with tangy homemade cocktail sauce and three other delicious homemade hot sauces. Even their homemade steak sauce is like A1 without the bite and just the right amount of sweet. Truly exceptional! You cannot go wrong no matter what you eat! It is all to die for! You won’t be disappointed!
