Four adults in Northern Vigo County, Indiana, have been arrested and charged with neglect of a dependent resulting in death and neglect of a dependent, stemming from a call the 911 dispatch received on Tuesday morning for a 9 year old boy in cardiac arrest.
Upon arrival, Cameron Hoopingarner was found unresponsive and brought to Union Hospital where he was pronounced dead. Doctors at the hospital said Cameron had weighed only 15 pounds.
During a press conference, Sheriff Greg Ewing said, “His cause of death was severe malnutrition, and the manner was homicide as ruled preliminarily by the coroner’s office.” “Essentially in my opinion, he was starved to death.”
Cameron was blind and suffered from cerebral palsy.
Once the investigation was completed, Chad Kraemer, 33, Hubert Kraemer, 56, Robin Kraemer, 53, and 30-year-old Sarah Travioli, were all arrested.
The four individuals all lived together along with Cameron and two other children aged 3, and 5. The two remaining children were removed from the home.
All four of the suspects charged were sent to the Vigo County Jail on $250,000 bond.
